Azerbaijan Criticizes WHO for Distribution of Coronavirus Vaccines
Baku/05.03.21/Turan: The State Agency for Compulsory Health Insurance of Azerbaijan criticized the World Health Organization, which did not include Azerbaijan among 18 countries to be given Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines within the COVAX platform. The WHO explained this by the fact that countries that started vaccination before January 29 are not included in the first phase of the exclusive distribution of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.
The statement of the State Agency on this issue notes that vaccination in Azerbaijan is carried out taking into account the recommendations of the WHO.
Azerbaijan stands for the fair distribution of vaccines in the world, although in practice the opposite happens, the statement said.
In fact, COVAX does not fulfill its obligations, and the unfair distribution of vaccines proves that there are serious problems in this project.
Azerbaijan's position is set out in a letter to COVAX with a call to reconsider the decision, said in a statement by the Compulsory Health Insurance Agency of Azerbaijan. -02D-
