Azerbaijan is ready to open a regional center ISESCO
Baku/13.01.21/Turan: On Wednesday, at a meeting with ICESCO General Director Salim bin Mohammed al-Malik in Baku, the President Ilham Aliyev confirmed Baku's interest in opening a regional center of the Islamic Organization for Education, Science and Culture (ISESCO) in Azerbaijan.
According to him, this issue has been discussed for 3-4 years and now Baku will make a decision. "This is very important for us and for all people who contribute to strengthening Islamic solidarity and preserving Islamic cultural heritage," Aliyev said.
Al-Maliki, in turn, speaking about his visit to the territories liberated from the Armenian occupation, noted that he was shocked by the destroyed monuments of the cultural and religious heritage of Azerbaijan.
“We visited the liberated territories and saw an unprecedented tragedy. This inhuman act does not fit into any dimension. This is a crime against humanity,” he said.
In turn, Aliyev said that the Armenians destroyed almost 70 mosques in the occupied territories. At the same time, they restored only one mosque in Shusha under the "pretext of protecting Islamic cultural and religious objects", and they attracted a foreign company for this.
“It was an attempt to show that Armenians are “tolerant” and “respect Muslim culture and the feelings of Muslims”. If so, why were other mosques destroyed? Didn't that foreign company (Iranian) that came to Shusha see the destruction of other mosques, of the entire religious and cultural heritage? They are even worse than the separatists who destroyed the mosque,” Aliyev said, promising to restore everything destroyed.
Upon completion of the meeting, Al-Maliki presented Aliyev with a commemorative dagger on the victory in the Second Karabakh War. — 06В-
