Azerbaijan urged Armenia to abandon provocations and implement trilateral statements
Baku/11.12.21/Turan: In recent days, the Armenian armed forces have continued provocations on the Azerbaijani-Armenian border in the direction of the Kelbajar region, the statement of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry in connection with the escalation of tension on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.
The document recalls that on December 8, 2021, as a result of another provocation in the direction of the Kelbajar region of the state border, a serviceman of the Azerbaijani army, Aliyev Asif Adil oglu, was killed.
On December 9-10, Armenian units also intensively fired at the positions of the Azerbaijani army in the Kelbajar region. As a result of the retaliatory measures of the Azerbaijani army, the provocations of the opposite side were suppressed.
At a time when Baku is taking appropriate steps to normalize post-conflict relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, the continuation of the provocative activities of the Armenian side on the eve of the Moscow meeting of the 3 + 3 format consultative mechanism demonstrates the aggressive position of Yerevan, the statement of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry says.
Responsibility for the tension on the border of the two states and the bloody crime in the direction of the Kelbajar region lies with the military-political leadership of Armenia.
The accusations of the Armenian Foreign Ministry that Azerbaijan violates the sovereign borders of this country are completely unfounded. It is in order to avoid such false accusations that Azerbaijan is a supporter to start negotiations on the delimitation of the borders of the two states as soon as possible.
If Armenia really wants peace and stability in the region, then it must take real steps to normalize relations and put an end to imitations, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry further notes.
“We call on the Armenian side to refrain from attempts to impede the peace process by creating deliberate tension in the region and to fully implement the trilateral statements in accordance with its obligations,” the statement of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said in conclusion.—06В-
