Azerbaijani Ambassador to NATO and his wife attacked, watch worth 90,000 euros stolen
Ambassador Huseynzade: "The price of the stolen “Rolex” watches is significantly exaggerated" (updated)
Azerbaijani Ambassador to NATO Jafar Huseynzade commented to Turan on the robbery attack on him and his wife in Brussels on August 5. According to him, the attack by two unknown persons occurred at the moment when the couple entered the building where they live. "They forced their way inside and threatened us with a knife and a weapon, forcibly took away the wife's bag, our “Rolex” wristwatch, inflicted minor injuries on us, and disappeared," the ambassador said.
Regarding the value of the stolen, he expressed regret that the Belgian press had multiplied the value of the stolen watches. "Despite the fact that the watches were of the “Rolex” brand, they were simple metal models," the ambassador noted.
The Embassy appealed to the authorities of Belgium to ensure the safety of diplomats in accordance with the Vienna Convention.
