Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry agrees with Putin's assessment
Baku / 18.11.20 / Turan: Azerbaijan highly appreciates the efforts of the Russian side to resolve the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict. This is how the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry commented on yesterday's interview of Russian President Vladimir Putin to the Russia-24 TV channel.
Russia, as a permanent member of the UN Security Council and the only country out of the three co-chairing states of the OSCE Minsk Group, directly borders the region, has historical ties there, which explains Moscow's direct interest in strengthening security, stability and peace in the South Caucasus."
According to the press service of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, Putin's interview tells in detail about the important role of the mediation of the President of the Russian Federation in reaching the agreements of November 9 this year.
“The personal role of the President of Russia, his signature under the trilateral statement of November 9 this year represent his extremely important contribution to the process of peaceful settlement and a guarantee of the irreversibility of this process,” the Foreign Ministry said.
The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry fully shares the assessment of the Russian President that an important achievement of the trilateral statement was the end of bloodshed.
“The words of the President of Russia that from the point of view of international law both Nagorno Karabakh and all adjacent regions are an integral part of the territory of Azerbaijan are especially important. This position of Russia rests on a solid foundation of the resolutions of the UN Security Council, decisions of the OSCE and other international organizations,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
It is also significant to say that the territories of Azerbaijan were under the control of Armenia.
"This testifies to the complete failure of the attempts of the Armenian side to mislead the world community and bring to the fore the illegal regime created by Armenia in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan," the Foreign Ministry noted.
The attempts of the Armenian leadership to expand the framework of the conflict and draw the CSTO into it failed. As Putin stressed, "no one encroached on the territory of Armenia." Thus, the position of Azerbaijan was confirmed that all hostilities are taking place exclusively on the territory of our country, which was occupied by the armed forces of Armenia in the 1990s.
The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry drew attention to Putin's words about the consequences of the possible refusal of the Armenian side to fulfill the agreements on November 9 of this year as a "suicide". –06D-
