Azerbaijani Interior Minister rejects arrest of “Abzas Media” employees for journalistic activities
Baku/01.12.23/Turan: Azerbaijani Interior Minister Vilayat Eyvazov sent a message to the US-based Committee for the Protection of Journalists on November 30.
Eyvazov said by email that the allegations that the charges against Hasanli, Vagifgizi and Kekalov are related to their work are "completely groundless," a statement on the CPJ website.
Eyvazov stated that the three had smuggled "a large amount of foreign currency" across the state border of Azerbaijan "outside customs control or secretly and without declaration," and that the 40,000 euros found in the office of “Abzas Media” were "part" of the smuggled currency. -0-
