Is the Sheikh acting as an intermediary between Baku and Washington?
Baku/01.12.23/Turan: Against the background of deteriorating relations between the United States and Azerbaijan, Miles Hansen, head of the Board of the American Sterling Foundation, arrived in Baku.
Strangely enough, he was received by Sheikh Allahshukur Pashazade, who praised the Sterling Foundation's participation in the demining of the liberated territories.
In response, Hansen expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and invited the sheikh to visit Utah, whose religious community "has spiritual ties with Azerbaijan." This is stated in a message on the website of the Office of Muslims of the Caucasus.
It is difficult to understand what the sheikh has to do with the demining of territories, and why on earth the representative of the American foundation is discussing these issues with Pashazade.
Most likely, Hansen was refused at the official level in response to Washington's refusal to host representatives of official Baku.
It remains to be hoped that the sheikh will cope with this diplomatic mission and will be able to establish contacts between Baku and Washington. -0-
