Bakhtiyar Hajiyev refuses infusion and continues hunger strike
Baku/09.02.23/Turan: Activist Bakhtiyar Hajiyev, who is on a hunger strike for the 32nd day, was again visited today by Professor Adyl Geybulla and doctors of the medical and sanitary unit of the Baku Pre-trial detention center - 1.
As the professor told Turan, Hajiyev's body temperature was 35.1 degrees, blood pressure 95/70, blood sugar level 4.3, weight - 69.3 kg.
During the day, Hajiyev drank 1.7 liters of water, which is very little. Another negative factor is that Hajiyev smokes.
Geybulla also said that Hajiyev refused infusion to restore the water-salt balance. According to him, further continuation of the hunger strike can lead to coma, given the decrease in pressure and blood sugar levels.
* Bakhtiyar Hajiyev was detained on December 9 on charges of hooliganism and contempt of court. On the same day, the Khatai District Court arrested him for 1 month and 20 days.
On December 15, Hajiyev went on a hunger strike demanding his release. On December 28, he ended his hunger strike after persistent calls from the public and family members. However, on January 9, he resumed his hunger strike after the appeal court refused to release him and continues to this day.
On January 21, the court extended Hajiyev's arrest for another 1 month. 16B06
