Belarus and Azerbaijan Discuss Military-Technical Cooperation
Baku / 17.05.18 / Turan: On May 16, the Belarusian delegation led by the Chairman of the State Military-Industrial Committee, Major-General Oleg Dzhepylev, met with the Azerbaijani Defense Minister Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov.
The sides discussed issues of military-technical cooperation, the press service of the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry reported.
The interlocutors expressed satisfaction at the results of the joint activities in the military and military-technical spheres, and also stressed the importance of developing cooperation in these areas.
The sides positively assessed the adoption of military products of various purposes for the armament of the Azerbaijani army. They are provided for all types of troops and are produced by enterprises of the military-industrial complex of Belarus. A wide range of issues of military-technical cooperation was also considered and directions for the implementation of new large projects aimed at increasing the fighting capacity of the Azerbaijani army were determined.
Military cooperation between Azerbaijan and Belarus has begun to develop significantly since 2004. Belarus supplies T-72 tanks, self-propelled artillery systems 2S7 Pion of 203-mm caliber, BTR-70, 152 mm D-20 howitzers, Su-25 attack aircraft, two Buk MB anti-aircraft missile systems, anti-tank missile systems Skif of the Ukrainian-Belarusian production (Peleng OJSC supplies the guidance system), and multiple rocket launchers (MLRS) Polonaise. -0-
