Candidates for Deputies Protest the Constitutional Court (CC)
Baku / 05.03.20 / Turan: On March 5, a group of candidates for deputies held a rally in front of the Constitutional Court against falsification of the results of parliamentary elections.
Police prevented them from approaching the building, and they protested on the opposite side of the square in front of the cop. The candidate for deputy from the Musavat party Gulaga Aslanli regarded the non-admission of candidates to the building of the Constitutional Court as a violation of the law and the principle of publicity of the CC.
An independent candidate for parliament, Farhad Mehdiyev, called the decision of the Constitutional Court on the approval of the election results political, because no legal assessment was given to numerous election irregularities. Despite the irrefutable evidence of fraud, I could not protect the votes. I apologize to them. I am convinced that justice will be restored in the European Court,” said Bakhtiyar Hajiyev, another independent candidate. Another independent candidate, Abid Gafarov, said that after these elections he goes into opposition to power. Independent candidate Zia Guliyeva said there was numerous evidence in more than 90 counties.
The imminent recognition of these violations by the ECHR will cast doubt on the legitimacy of parliament, he said. —06D-
