The Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan has announced the list of places allocated for election campaigning by candidates in the Parliamentary elections on 1 September.
The CEC reports that 5113 places have been allocated in 125 electoral districts for meetings of candidates with voters. 3,259 of them are places in open spaces and 1,854 in closed premises.
According to the Electoral Code, political parties whose candidates are registered in more than 60 constituencies receive free airtime or newspaper space in state-funded media.
These are "Public TV", newspapers "Azerbaijan", "Khalq", "Respublika" and "Baku Worker".
However, only the ruling Yeni Azerbaijan Party, which has registered candidates in all districts, has this privilege.
The opposition parties "Musavat" and "REAL" have 22 and 11 candidates respectively.
Candidates may campaign on a paid basis on 58 TV channels, radio and other media.
On TV the cost of 1 second of election campaigning is 20-30 manats, on radio - 7-25 manats. In print and online media the cost of advertising space starts from 1000 manats.
The election campaign starts on 9 August and will end at 08.00 on 31 August - one day before the start of voting in the elections.
According to the latest data, 950 candidates have been registered for the 125-seat Parliament.
The candidate registration process ends at 18.00 on 8 August.
