CEC cancels registration of opposition candidate
Baku/07.02.20/Turan: The CEC canceled the registration of a candidate for deputy in the 86th Ismayilli constituency of Mazahir Shahveledov. The basis for this was the identification of dual citizenship of the candidate.
Shahveledov was nominated by the Union of Real Republicans, which includes members of the REAL party and independent candidates.
The REAL party told Turan that Shahveledov renounced Russian citizenship back in 2015, so today's CEC decision will be appealed; theoretically, the complaint could be considered by the court of appeal tomorrow.
Shahveledov lives in Ismayilli district and is a lawyer of Chaldash firm.
From the 86th district, the pro-government candidate, deputy of the Milli Majlis of the 4th and 5th convocations Novruzali Aslanov is running again. —06D-
