Armenian MFA: The topic of joint residence of Armenians and Azerbaijanis in Karabakh was not discussed in Geneva
Yerevan / 07.02.20 / Turan: At the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia in Geneva on January 29-30, the issue of "construction in Nagorno-Karabakh for the joint settlement of Armenians and Azerbaijanis" was not discussed. This was announced today by the press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Anna Naghdalyan.
She commented on the statement of “candidate for the presidency of Nagorno-Karabakh,” Vitaly Balasanyan, who stated that in Geneva the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan "discussed the issue of building a joint settlement of Armenians and Azerbaijanis in the south of Lachin region" and "the deployment of peacekeeping forces there."
“Once again, we categorically refute this false and have nothing to do with reality assumptions,” said the spokesperson for the Armenian Foreign Ministry.
Naghdalyan also stated that the Azerbaijani community of Karabakh "is not a factor in the negotiation process on Karabakh." According to her, this community is a non-governmental organization created by the Azerbaijani authorities and cannot act as a factor in the negotiations. According to her, the negotiations should be conducted by two Armenian parties (Armenia and Karabakh) and Azerbaijan.
Thus, the Armenian Foreign Ministry reacted to the meeting in Baku of US Ambassador Lee Litsenberger with the head of the Azerbaijani community of Karabakh, Tural Ganjaliev. -02D-
