Promises of lottery winnings and gambling led to 2,450,403 manat being transferred to foreign accounts, while 292,344 manat was stolen under the guise of selling various goods, 116,219 manat through fake phone sales, 121,640 manat through fake car sales, 470,734 manat through fake employment promises, 139,600 manat through fake loan offers, and 82,370 manat through fake rental services for housing, cars, and other services.
The analysis and investigations carried out for each case show that the cybercrimes occurred as a result of fraudsters obtaining citizens' personal banking card details.
Bank cardholders, who trusted the promises of unknown individuals, provided their personal information and became victims of the fraudsters.
“Considering the above, we again urge citizens to be cautious when providing personal data and making online payments involving bank cards. Pay close attention to all suspicious offers, do not answer unknown calls or messages, and do not click on suspicious links,” the statement emphasized.
