Chief of General Staff of Iranian Armed Forces to Visit Baku
Baku / 15.01.19 / Turan: Mohammad Bagheri, head of the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, will arrive in Baku on Wednesday at the head of a high-ranking military delegation. This was announced by his deputy Gadir Entezami today. According to him, the visit will take place at the invitation of the Minister of Defense of Azerbaijan Zakir Hasanov, the IRNA agency reported.
Within the framework of the two-day visit, meetings of Bagheri with the President, the Prime Minister and the speaker of the Azerbaijani parliament are scheduled.
The issues of development of cooperation in the military and defense sphere will be discussed.
Pointing to the historical and cultural relations of Iran and Azerbaijan, Entezami noted that both countries will play a major role in ensuring the stability and security of the region.
Referring to the position of the Armed Forces of Iran and Azerbaijan in establishing security at the common borders and the Caspian Sea, he called the visit of the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Iran to Baku very significant.
Following the visit, a memorandum of understanding in the field of defense cooperation between the two countries is expected to be signed, the report said. -02D-
