Chief of General Staff of Russian Federation awarded Medal of Azerbaijan
On an official visit to Baku, the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Valery Gerasimov April 7 held talks with his Azerbaijani counterpart Nejmeddin Sadigov and Defence Minister Zakir Hasanov.
As the press service of the Defense Ministry said, Sadigov focused the guest on the Armenian aggression against Azerbaijan . But he expressed confidence that the occupied territories of Azerbaijan will be released.
The sides discussed the development of bilateral cooperation in the military-technical sphere, military education and regional security, as well as preparations for the upcoming April 8 Baku meeting of the Chiefs of Staff of the CIS countries.
During the talks with Gerasimov the Azerbaijani minister said that relations between the two countries are based on friendship and mutual trust and constantly evolve.
Referring to the military-political situation in the region, Hasanov said that the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict poses a threat to regional stability. He stressed the importance of resolving the conflict in the framework of international law.
In turn, Gerasimov said that relations between the two countries are based on the relations of friendship and Azerbaijan is an important partner for Russia.
The sides exchanged views on the development of Azerbaijani-Russian military ties, the prospects of partnership and other regional issues of mutual interest.

The Azerbaijani citizen in the vehicle claimed ownership of the cargo and also stated that he was a diplomat. The investigation by the prosecutor's office is ongoing, reports Sabah newspaper. The media outlet does not disclose the name of the "diplomat," only his initials – M.G.Ş. The Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs has declined to comment on the situation.
