China and Azerbaijan sign an agreement in the military field
Baku / 27.04.18 / Turan: On 27 April an agreement on rendering military assistance was signed in Beijing on the results of the meeting of the defense ministers of China and Azerbaijan - Wei Fenhen and Zakir Hasanov , the press service of the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said. During the meeting, the two ministers discussed issues of cooperation in the military sphere, noting the great potential in this area.
The Chinese minister touched upon the Karabakh issue and stated that Beijing is for resolving the issue on the basis of the principle of territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. In his turn, Zakir Hasanov noted that the development of comprehensive relations with China is one of Azerbaijan's foreign policy priorities.
Hasanov thanked the Chinese colleague for his principled position on the Karabakh issue.
The sides also discussed issues related to military-technical cooperation, the training of military personnel and a number of other issues of mutual interest. -05D-

On November 26, the Baku Court of Appeals reviewed the appeal of human rights defender Anar Mammadli, who contested the extension of his detention. Mammadli's lawyer, Javad Javadov, stated that Mammadli argued the extension of his pre-trial detention was unfounded and linked the criminal prosecution to his human rights activities, Turan reported.

Arrested economist Fazil Gasimov has reportedly faced pressure after protesting the interruption of a phone call with his family on November 16.
