Civil society urged I. Aliyev to accept the terms of the Open Government Platform
Baku / 28.11.19 / Turan: The Azerbaijan National Platform of the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum has adopted an appeal to President Ilham Aliyev.
The appeal recalls that the Steering Committee of the international platform of the Open Government Partnership (EPP) at a meeting on December 5-6, 2018 gave Azerbaijan time to restore the country's membership in this initiative. For this, Azerbaijan must prepare a Roadmap for the National Action Plan 2020-2020 in accordance with EPP standards and accept it until December 31, 2019
The authors of the appeal remind that for three years now Azerbaijan has remained an inactive member of the EPP and no other country has been given so much time to rectify the situation.
In accordance with these recommendations, the Roadmap of the National Action Plan for 2020-2022 was developed.
The document defines measures in 8 areas to create a working environment for civil society and increase financial transparency.
The Azerbaijan National Platform of the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum calls on the president to include proposals supported by civil society in the National Action Plan.
* Three years ago, Azerbaijan’s participation in EPP was suspended due to government restrictions on the activities of independent civil society institutions and foreign donors, and pressure on activists. -06B-
