Baku/28.09.22/Turan: On September 28, the Commander of the Georgian Defense Forces Giorgi Matiashvili received the Chief of the General Staff of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces Kerim Veliyev, who is in Georgia with an official visit.
They discussed the issues of ensuring the security of regional economic projects, prospects for bilateral military cooperation, the press service of the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry reported.
The importance of holding joint events in a bilateral and trilateral format with the participation of Turkey, as well as within the framework of NATO, was noted.
The preparations for the forthcoming joint exercises of Commandos units of the three countries - "Caucasian Eagle-2022" - were touched upon.
The issues of organizing joint exercises "Caucasian Eagle-2023" and command and staff exercises "Eternity-2023" were also discussed. --06B--

On 12 September from 00:15 to 01:05 the Armenian armed forces fired several times with small arms at Azerbaijani army positions in the direction of Yukhary Buzgov settlement of Babek region of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. Azerbaijani units took adequate retaliatory measures in the mentioned direction, the press service of the Azerbaijani military department said in a statement.

The United States on Wednesday announced additional $700 million in humanitarian aid for Ukraine, saying that it remained 'fully committed' to Ukraine's victory, to "not only ensuring that Ukraine can defend itself today, but can stand on its own feet strongly, militarily, economically, democratically for many, many days ahead," as Secretary of State Antony Blinken put it, TURAN's Washington correspondent reports.

“The EU takes note of the public statement concerning Azerbaijan adopted at the 114th plenary meeting (July 2024) of the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (CPT). We regret the persistent lack of cooperation by the Azerbaijani authorities with the CPT and call on the Azerbaijani authorities to resume a constructive dialogue with the Committee.
