Congress of the Social Democratic Party of Azerbaijan was opened
The XII Congress of the Social Democratic Party of Azerbaijan (SDPA) was opened in Baku at Crescent Beach today. Of the 150 delegates selected, 114 attend the congress and 12 guests have come from seven countries.
Of the leaders of political parties in Azerbaijan, the forum is only attended by the chairman of the Citizens and Development Party, Ali Aliyev.
The agenda of the Congress includes the report by the co-chair of the SDPA Araz Alizadeh, changes in the party’s Charter, dissolution of the co-chairmanship, and election of the governing bodies of the party.
SDPA was established in 1990 as an initiative group. In 1992 it received the status of party and began to work actively.
Active members of the national liberation movement the brothers Zardusht and Araz Alizadeh for some time were SDPA co-chairs. In the late 1990s Zardusht Alizadeh resigned from the party.
Several years ago, ex-President Ayaz Mutalibov became one of the co-chairs of SDPA. -03C04-

Shamshad Aga, editor of the "Argument.az" website, has been found guilty in the Meydan TV case of smuggling (Article 206.3.2 of the Criminal Code) and sentenced to two months and one day in detention. The decision was made on February 6 by the Khatai District Court of Baku, as reported by Turan, citing his lawyer, Shahla Humbatova.
