Council of Europe Secretary General concerned about tensions between Armenia and Azerbaijan
Baku/17.11.21/Turan: Marija Pejcinović Burić, Secretary General of the Council of Europe has called on Armenia and Azerbaijan to resolve the conflict peacefully.
"I am concerned about reports of ongoing incidents between Armenia and Azerbaijan that have already taken away human lives. The news of the ceasefire is good news, and I call on both sides to maintain the ceasefire.
When joining our Organization more than twenty years ago, both Armenia and Azerbaijan committed themselves to resolve the conflict peacefully. The commitment above remains unchanged to be implemented without any hesitation.
The Council of Europe reaffirms its full support to the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs in their ongoing efforts to assist Armenia and Azerbaijan in finding a peaceful solution to their differences.
We are poised to make easier the dialogue between the two member states with the aim of building confidence and promoting reconciliation," Pejcinovic-Buric said in a statement.-16D-
