Court does not Release Activist of NIDA Movement
Nasimi district court, chaired by Elnur Akhmedov, dismissed the complaint of arrested member of NIDA Movement, Rashadat Akhundov. The complaint was on changing his restraint to house arrest.
According to Namik Hajiyev's lawyer, the judge upheld a previous decision by the court of the arrest during the investigation.
In court, Rashadat Akhundov, said that there was no reason to keep him in jail, and that the arrest itself is politically motivated.
Akhundov is one of seven members of the youth organization NIDA, arrested on false charges of organizing riots involving explosives and possession of drugs. They were arrested before and after young people protested in the center of Baku on March 10. They were protesting against soldier deaths.
Amnesty International recognizes them to be prisoners of conscience, and demand their immediate release.-16B-
