Court to discuss the summoning Ali Hasanov for questioning
Baku/20.08.21/Turan: On August 20, the Baku Court for Serious Crimes began considering a criminal case of the former executive director of the abolished State Support Fund for Media Development, Vugar Safarly and 10 other individuals.
In the course of the trial chaired by judge Azer Pashayev, lawyer Javanshir Suleymanov put forward a motion for questioning in court as witnesses the former Presidential aide for social-political affairs, Ali Hasanov, his son Shamkhal Hasanov and the sister-in-law of the disgraced official,Gulyar Veliyeva.
Note that the petition remained unanswered.
Judge Azer Pashayev stated that he would express his attitude to the petition at the next court session.
The indictment was announced at the trial.
According to the document, Safarly, in collusion with other persons, misappropriated state-allocated funds. In particular, the rent of the Fund's administrative building was overstated. The cost of the office renting was indicated in 12,800 manats.
According to the case materials, on the instructions of Vugar Safarly, 229.000 manats were transferred to the account of his wife Gunel Safarly for the edition of the newspaper "Football + Goal".
Besides, Safarly is charged with embezzlement by means of official forgery of a total of 18 million 500.000 manats, including funds for the construction of houses for journalists, as well as the legalization of funds obtained by criminal means in the amount of 5.7 million manats.
It ought to be noted that the defendants pleaded not guilty. The next court session is scheduled for September 3.
At present, Safarly is under arrest, other defendants are under police supervision.—021B06-
