Czech MPs condemned Khojaly genocide

The Committee on Foreign Affairs of the House of Deputies of the Czech Parliament passed a resolution on the occasion of the 21st anniversary of the Khojaly genocide, the press service of the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan reported.

The document stresses that on the night of February 26, 1992 Armenian armed forces massacred 613 unarmed civilians.

This tragedy once again confirms how bloody wars could be, and how there is a need in human understanding and tolerance in the world, says the decision.

Recalling the UN Security Council resolutions N 822 (1993), 853 (1993), 874 (1993) and 884 (1993), demanding the withdrawal of Armenian troops from Azerbaijani territories, the paper also points to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan , including Nagorno-Karabakh in the resolutions and decisions of the General Assembly of the United Nations, European Union, Council of Europe and OSCE.

The Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Deputies of the Czech Parliament condemns the ethnic cleansing of defenseless civilians, mass murder and genocide facts, wherever and whenever that may be. In this sense, the Czech MPs regard the massacre in Khojaly as a crime against humanity and condemn it. On the occasion of the 21st anniversary of the tragedy they expressed deep condolences to the people of Azerbaijan. -06D -
