Dagestan authorities suggest increasing border quota for Azerbaijani citizens
Baku / 16.06.20 / Turan: The authorities of Dagestan during a meeting with representatives of Azerbaijan proposed increasing the quota for a one-time border crossing by citizens of this country who are in a temporary camp in the Derbent region of the republic to 360 people. The final decision will be made within a week, Fuad Shikhiev, head of the Derbent region of Dagestan, told TASS on Tuesday.
"Today, the head of the Republic of Dagestan, Vladimir Vasiliev, met with the delegation of Azerbaijan. The issue of increasing the quota was discussed. A mechanism was proposed to take 360 people who are in the camp every two weeks. The issue is that the Azerbaijani side takes from 120 to 130 people every time 120 people leave, and 200 people arrive here, so the flow never stops," Shikhiev said, adding that a final decision on this should be made before the end of the week.
According to representatives of Azerbaijan, in making lists, priority is given to children, women, the elderly, as well as people with chronic diseases. “These people are included in the list. For three months now people have been here, can no longer accept the fact that they stay here all the time,” said Shikhiev.
On Tuesday evening, Shikhiev told TASS that 155 Azerbaijani citizens were brought to the border and they began to cross the border. -02D-
