Democratic National Council condemns pressure on Babek Hasanov and Ahsan Nuruzade
Baku / 31.05.19 / Turan: In recent days, it became known about the ill treatment of one of the political prisoners, the PFPA functionary, the Karabakh war participant Babek Hasanov in jail No. 6. The authorities use repressive measures to punish and break those who support their comrades in opposition movement. Torture, beatings and moral terror are the usual means of the authorities against dissidents and the case of Babek Hasanov is a vivid example, reads the statement of the National Council of Democratic Forces of the country.
Not limited to this, the administration of the jail began to punish those convicts who communicate with Babek Hasanov. So, he was forbidden to communicate with other prisoners.
Another political prisoner, Ahsan Nuruzade, who is serving a sentence in the same jail, was placed in a punishment cell for refusing to obey this order and communicating with Babek Hasanov.
The National Council strongly condemns such anti-human actions against political prisoners and demands that the authorities stop them.
"All this is an indicator of the government"s excessive hatred of the democratic camp. The authorities must understand that such steps increase tensions in the country.
The National Council demands to stop immediately the pressure on political prisoners and to repeal the punishment to Ahsan Nuruzade.
