Deputy Foreign Minister of Germany Arrives in Baku
Germany's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cornelia Pieper, arrived today on a visit to Baku. As stated in the press release of the German Embassy in Azerbaijan, she is accompanied by representatives of the Ministry of Economy and the Commerce and Industry Chamber of Germany.
Together with the Minister of Economic Development, Shahin Mustafayev, Cornelia Pieper is to take part in the opening ceremony of the Azerbaijani-German Chamber of Commerce.
Pieper is also scheduled to meet with Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov and Minister of Culture Abulfaz Garayev.
According to the Embassy, a meeting is also scheduled between Pieper with representatives of civil society.
On the eve of the visit, Cornelia Pieper made a statement, which said:
"The German Chamber of Commerce opening in Baku will be the second one after Moscow in the CIS. Thus, Germany is demonstrating its attitude to Azerbaijan, which has become one of the economic centers of power in the region in recent years.
We are engaged in an active political dialogue on broad themes. Azerbaijan is an important partner in the region that faces serious geopolitical challenges. This dialog also includes topics related to civil society." -02D-
