Ilham Aliyev Approved Manifold Increase in Penalties for Unauthorized Rally
President Ilham Aliyev signed an order on the application of amendments to the law "On freedom of assembly." The Cabinet of Ministers is in charge for three months to align laws and presidential acts with the new changes and submit the proposals to the President.
Recall that on November 2 the Milli Majlis adopted amendments to the law "On freedom of assembly" as well as to the Criminal Code and the Code of Administrative Offences.
According to the new amendments, for participation in unsanctioned rallies, the responsibility of individuals, legal entities and officials has been tightened. The existing penalties were increased, in some cases up to 100 times. Thus, a person can be fined up to 3 thousand manats and a legal entity can be fined up to 15 thousand AZN. -03D04-
