Director of US State Department’s Office of Caucasus Affairs on visit to Azerbaijan
Баку/14.01.23/Turan: Mark Cameron, the Director of the Office of Caucasus Affairs and Regional Conflicts in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs at the State Department, is on a visit to Azerbaijan, Turan informs, citing the US Embassy in Baku.
While in Baku, Mark will join internal meetings with the Embassy team, speak at an American Corner event, as well as meet with a variety of officials, economic and political interlocutors, and other US government partners.
“In his meetings, Mark will note that the United States remains committed to promoting a secure, stable, democratic, prosperous, and peaceful future for the South Caucasus region. He will emphasize that direct dialogue is key to resolving issues and reaching a lasting peace,” the embassy said.
Mark has served in both Tbilisi, Georgia, as well as Adana and Ankara, Turkiye and is delighted to spend time in Azerbaijan.-0-

On February 3, the trial of public activist Nijat Ibrahim will begin in the Baku Serious Crimes Court. This decision was made on Wednesday at a preparatory hearing by Judge Aygun Gurbanova. According to lawyer Zibeida Sadigova, Ibrahim was taken to court in handcuffs. There were guards sitting next to him throughout the whole process.
