Tofig Yagublu refuses treatment and continues hunger strike

Baku / 14.01.22 / Turan: Opposition politician Tofig Yagublu, who is serving an administrative sentence in the form of arrest, has been on a hunger strike for the tenth day. At the same time, on January 14, he refused treatment in hospital number 6, where he was hospitalized on the seventh day of the action.

On Saturday, a doctor, professor Adil Geybulla met with Yagublu in the hospital.

“Today we examined Tofig Yagublu again. His blood pressure was 110/70. His condition is stable and his speech is normal. He had a chest X-ray and an abdominal ultrasound today. Surveys did not reveal any major problems. However, as a result of his hunger strike, he has a general sluggish weakness. This is especially felt when he gets up from his bed,” the doctor told Turan.

However, according to him, the continuation of the hunger strike, taking into account the age of Yagublu (61 years old), his illnesses, recent surgeries, may create risks for his body.

In turn, the politician's daughter Nigar Hazi expressed concern for her father's condition.

“My father has been on a hunger strike for the tenth day. He also refused medical intervention. He did not agree to be put on a drip. The father intends to continue his hunger strike until he is released,” Hazi wrote on facebook.
T. Yagublu's wife, Maya Yagublu, is also on a hunger strike at home for the eighth day.

“My mother writhed in pain all night until morning, could not sleep. She has severe pain in her stomach, kidneys, and head. She is persistent in her intention to continue the hunger strike until her father is released,” Hazi further noted.
Also, the hunger strike of solidarity with Yagublu continues in the headquarters of the Musavat party and the Agdash region of Azerbaijan.

According to information from the PFPA, on January 14, 20 people took part in a solidarity hunger strike, including 13 activists in the Musavat headquarters, 6 people in the Aghdash region and Tofig Yagublu's wife.

The hunger strikers demand the release of Tofig Yagublu, public activist Bakhtiyar Hajiyev and all other political prisoners. -03B06-
