The media agenda during the reviewed period reflects contradictory processes in the country’s economy. On the one hand, the country’s external debt has decreased to 6.1% of GDP; on the other hand, the State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan is recording its largest deficit in years, while non-performing loans are rising.

One of the key topics in the media agenda during the period under review was the official visit to Azerbaijan by Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs.

The media are covering the impact of the military crisis around Iran on Azerbaijan. Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and security agencies reported the prevention of terrorist attacks in Azerbaijan targeting the embassy of the Jewish state, a synagogue, as well as the Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan oil pipeline.
