"Diversity of colors" in the National Council

The  session of the National Council on July 9 paid special attention to its structuring - the creation of committees and the appointment of chairmen. The question on creation of four committees will be discussed at  the regular session.

As for the already formed commissions, there are representatives of the various political forces. Thus, among the heads of commissions, there are former government officials, parliamentarians, non-party, as well as the general and the colonel.

Head of the Economic Commission is elected Gubad Ibadoglu, a member of the party "Musavat" and a member of the "National Budget Group." He also directs the Center for Economic Initiatives as a member of the Coalition "Transparency in the oil field."

Commission on Social Policy is chaired by the Liberal Party, Eldar Aliev. He is Fellow of the Institute of Economics of the Academy of Sciences, the analyst, vice-chairman of the Liberal Party, and retired colonel.

Chairman of the Committee for Public Relations is Mehman Aliyev, Director of Turan News Agency. Mehman Aliyev has repeatedly spoken initiator of the association in relation to the protection of many independent media.

Chairman of the juridical commission is a non-party, Vidadi Mirkamal. He was head of the legal committee of the Public Chamber, governed the Committee to protect the rights of persons arrested during opposition street protests. He is one of the leading drafters of the united opposition in the elections.

Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee Gultakin Hajibayli, a former teacher of Baku State University,  and former member of parliament and a member of the Azerbaijani delegation to the Council of Europe, is also an active participant in the Forum of the intelligentsia.

Chairman of the Commission on Humanitarian Policy was non-party Kamil Veli Narimanoglu. He was an activist of the national liberation movement of the early 90s, and later  the worker of humanitarian department of the Presidential Administration. He currently teaches Azerbaijani language and literature in Istanbul.

Nuraddin Mustafayev is the Chairman of the Ethics Commission. He used to be the first secretary of the Communist Party of Azerbaijan in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, and is regarded   a representative of the natives of Armenia.

Chairman of the committee on Karabakh became a famous historian Jamil Gasanli, non-party, a former member of parliament, and one of the founders of the Forum of Intellectuals and the National Council.

In addition to the above, the heads of four other committees should be elected: on  holding mass actions, on women's issues,  on youth affairs and human rights. -05B04-
