Donald Trumps Message to Ilham Aliyev
Baku / 27.04.18 / Turan: US President Donald Trump sent a message to the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. The message published on Ilham Aliyev's website says:
"Dear Mr. President, I look forward to working with you on the many areas of mutual interest for the American and Azerbaijani people.
Together we can make progress defeating terrorism, creating jobs, and improving Europe"s energy security. Progress on fighting corruption and peacefully solving the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict will help these efforts.
Best wishes to you and the people of Azerbaijan.
Sincerely,
Donald J. Trump
President of the United States of America."
The news does not specify why Trump sent this message to Aliyev, but we can assume that this was due to Aliyev's re-election as President.
The absence of references to cooperation in the field of democracy and human rights in the text also draws attention.
All previous years, the USA stated that cooperation with Azerbaijan is equally based on three strategic directions - security, energy and democracy. -06D-
