Education Is Best Tool against Terrorism, Ilham Aliyev
Azerbaijan plays an important role in ensuring European energy security and the development of regional cooperation, President Ilham Aliyev said on Monday, joining the opening ceremony of the Third World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue in Baku.
According to him, "Azerbaijan's initiatives are aimed at strengthening regional cooperation and associated with energy security." Projects implemented by Azerbaijan connect countries and continents.
Speaking about the economic achievements of the country, Aliyev noted the low level of external debt - about 10% of GDP.
The country does not depend on donors, sponsors or financial support from international financial institutions, he said.
Azerbaijan is the initiator of the Southern Gas Corridor project, which envisages transporting gas from the Caspian region via Georgia and Turkey to Europe, he added.
On the topic of the forum, Aliyev noted the importance of education in today's society.
He said that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to this. "Education is the best guarantee against terrorism, extremism and fundamentalism," he said.
However, he noted the dangerous trend of neo-fascist movement, which revived in various parts of the world. -16D--
