Eldar Hasanov expects justice from Ilham Aliyev
Baku/03.09.21/Turan: A preparatory session in the case of the former Prosecutor General of the country and ex-Ambassador Eldar Hasanov continued in the Baku Court for Serious Crimes. As before, pro-government media only were allowed into the hall and permitted to taping.
The lawyers protested against this demanding necessary conditions for other journalists as well. Besides, the defense pointed to procedural violations and not providing Hasanov with sufficient time to familiarize himself with the case materials. However, the court did not grant the petition and did not consider the petition to release Hasanov from the glass cage and sit next to the lawyers.
Hasanov himself said that as a person who has undergone 7 surgical operations, he did not receive the necessary medical care in prison. He repeated that the charges against him were unfounded and that the case had been initiated by a "group of persons".
He said that he expected justice from Ilham Aliyev, and a fair decision from the court. After that, the judge removed all the journalists.
According to some reports, a break was announced at the trial due to the deterioration of Hasanov's health conditions.
* Eldar Hasanov was detained on August 13, 2020 by the State Security Service on suspicion of abuse of his official powers and misuse of budget funds.
Note that charges were brought against him under five Articles: 179.3.2 (embezzlement), 193-1. 3. 2 (legalization of illegally obtained funds), 308.2 (abuse of office), 308-1. 1 (misuse of budget funds) and 313 (official forgery) of the Criminal Code.
Hasanov is accused of embezzlement when the Azerbaijani Ambassador to Romania, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro from 2010 to 2020. The point is about misappropriation of 180.000 euros during the repair work and the acquisition of premises for embassies. - 03B06-

On January 15, the Tbilisi Court of Appeals rejected the appeal of Afghan Sadigov, the founder of the Azel TV website, who had protested his extradition to Azerbaijan. On January 15, the Yasamal District Court rejected the motion to change the detention measure for Azer Gasymly, the director of the Institute of Political Management, his lawyer, Agyl Laidj, to Turan. "Azer Gasymly stated during the trial that the charges against him were fabricated and related to his socio-political activities," the lawyer said. An appeal will be filed against the court's decision.
