European Court Denies Armenia's Application of Measures against Azerbaijan
Baku / 30.09.20 / Turan: On Wednesday, the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) considered the appeal of the Armenian government against Azerbaijan.
Armenia asked the Strasbourg Court, in accordance with Rule 39 of the Rules of the Court, to apply binding measures against Azerbaijan to suspend offensive operations in Karabakh.
However, the ECHR did not satisfy Yerevan's petition, sources in the Strasbourg court said.
The ECHR in its decision appealed to both Azerbaijan and Armenia with a demand to refrain from violating the rights of the civilian population guaranteed by the Convention.
By Rule 39 of the Rules of Court, the ECHR can oblige the member states to take urgent measures in cases of imminent threat to the life and health of people. –71D-
