Ex-head of Kurdamir sentenced to 8.5 years of imprisonment
Baku/22.10.21/Turan: Former head of Kurdamir, Jeyhun Jafarov and other officials of the region were sentenced by the court for grave crimes of Lankaran region on Friday.
Thus, Jafarov was imprisoned for 8.5 years of imprisonment and banned from holding any post after his release within two and a half years.
The former officials of the same region were also sentenced to long terms of imprisonment: Tadjaddin Novruzov and Natig Kerimov - to 8.5 years each, Emin Sadigov - to 4 years, Eynulla Novruzov, Mohammed Musayev, Matlab Allakhverdiyev and Rajab Huseynov - to 8 years and three months each, Sarvar Mamedov - to two and a half years.
The abovementioned individuals were found guilty of corruption, abuse, forgery, embezzlement, etc.
According to the investigation, the defendants received bribes totaling AZN 137,000 ($80,000) from medical institutions of the region; AZN 120,000 ($70,000) from educational institutions; AZN 58,000 ($35,000) from municipal enterprises; AZN 71,000 ($41,000) from another enterprise.
All of them were arrested in August 2020 by the Office for Combating Corruption under the Prosecutor General. -02D-
