Five thousand people evacuated from Ukraine to Azerbaijan
Baku/10.03.22/Turan: Five thousand Azerbaijani citizens have been evacuated from that country to Azerbaijan since the start of the war in Ukraine.
Twelve charter flights from Bucharest and Yassy cities of Romania and Polish Katowice have been organised for this purpose, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said in a statement. Besides, bus traffic was provided for the return of Azerbaijani citizens.
To ensure more systematic and organized evacuation 17 officers of the Azerbaijani Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Emergency Situations, Internal Affairs and the State Migration Service of Azerbaijan have been sent to Moldova.
The Azerbaijani Embassy in Kishinev has organised a temporary coordination centre with Moldovan state authorities.
The co-ordination centre draws up lists of Azerbaijani citizens who arrived in Moldova from Ukraine, accommodates and assesses their needs, provides medical and other assistance, prepares documents for repatriation and restores missing travel documents.
Repatriation is carried out by charter flights and passenger buses.
According to international practice, the main priority in the evacuation process is given to children, women, the elderly and persons with disabilities.
A similar coordination centre will also be established in Poland and inter-ministerial delegations were also sent to Katowice and Warsaw for this purpose on 9 March.-06B-

Official Baku has condemned the visit of Polish President Andrzej Duda to the Azerbaijan-Armenia border during his official visit to Armenia. "The visit of Polish President Andrzej Duda to the to Armenia-Azerbaijan border area in the company of members of the EU Mission in Armenia (EUMA), unfortunately, is another demonstration of anti-Azerbaijani policy of different EU member countries and European institutions. We deeply regret that President of the country which is officially a “strategic partner” of Azerbaijan has participated in the unacceptable diplomatic “binocular show” leading to the aggravation of relations between Azerbaijan and Poland,”" reads the statement on the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ account on X (formerly Twitter).
