Foreign Ministry blamed Armenia for the rising tensions on the front
Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry blamed the escalation of tensions at the front on the recent days on Armenia. All responsibility for the tension that persists on the contact line of Azerbaijani and Armenian troops falls squarely on Armenia, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry stated.
On the recent days, as a result of numerous provocative actions of the Armenian side and intensive ceasefire violation by Armenian armed forces Captain Elnur Safarov of the Azerbaijani Defense was killed by a sniper. Another civilian was injured and a school building was shot during the classes. Also shelled were the houses and the private sector of the civilian population living in the areas near the frontline, the statement said.
Continuing the provocative actions and releasing statements full of threats and deliberately exacerbating the situation , Armenia, speaking of "confidence-building measures" and "peace," seeks only to deceive the international community and the Armenian society on the events occurring on the contact line of the troops and distract their attention from the true essence of the events .
All responsibility for the events on the frontline falls on Armenia that occupies Azerbaijani territories and conducts a policy of aggression against the country.
Despite the UN Security Council resolutions, the UN Charter and the norms and principles of international law, the Armenian armed forces continue to occupy the territories of Azerbaijan and are a major source of tension, as well as the main obstacle to a peaceful settlement of the conflict and to the restoration of peace in the region, the Foreign Ministry stated.
Azerbaijan's position on the settlement of the conflict is based on the norms and principles of international law and UN Security Council resolutions. To resolve the conflict in the first place, the Armenian armed forces have to withdraw from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan. This is the shortest and most effective way to resolve the conflict, the statement said. -06D -
