Another youth activist arrested on charges of drug use
Arrested on the charge of illegal use of drugs was the head of the youth movement Akhyn (Flow) and a member of the Civil Solidarity Party (CSP) Omar Mamedov. He was arrested on January 24 and on Saturday the court chose against him a preventive measure of arrest for three months.
Turan was told by the head of the Executive Committee of CSP Samir Asadli.
According to him, on January 25 Mamedov was brought to the Shuvalan jail.
19-year-old Mamedov is charged under Article 234.4.3 (illegal possession and trafficking of drugs) . He faces a sentence of up to 12 years in prison.
However, as noted Asadli, Mamedov did not even smoke cigarettes.
It is noteworthy that Mamedov was arrested on January 24 and about one day his family were not informed about the fate of the young man.
Mamedov was active in social networks and the Internet and in particular was one of the administrators of the page Lists of AzTV in Facebook ((https://www.facebook.com/pazaztv?fref=ts), which housed cartoons, collages, comments and laughed at negatives of the authorities.
Recently, however, in connection with studies in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Mamedov ceased operations on this page.
He returned to Baku on 20 January.
Mamedov was previously a member of the youth movement NIDA, but left it in the middle of last year, according to unofficial data, after the pressure exerted on his parents by the police. -06D -
