Kazakhstan's Transport Minister Marat Karabayev said at a press conference on 4 February that a preliminary report on the AZAL plane crash near Aktau will be published in the coming days.

‘The report is at the final stage, and in the near future we will publish a preliminary report on the website of the Civil Aviation Committee of Kazakhstan,’ the Minister said.

Earlier it was reported that the Centre for the Investigation and Prevention of Aviation Accidents (CENIPA) had completed the analysis of the plane's black box data. Flight data from the recorders of the plane of ‘Azerbaijan Airlines’ (AZAL), which crashed near Aktau, have been extracted. The data from the Embraer 190 aircraft was reportedly sent to Kazakh authorities investigating the crash.

‘Specialists need time to complete their work. We will not give additional comments until the publication of the preliminary report,’ Marat Karabayev added.

The investigation of the crash is led by Kazakhstan in accordance with the ICAO Convention. Specialists from Azerbaijan, Russia, international experts and 'Embraer' representatives are involved. The black boxes have been seized and are being decoded with the participation of international experts.
