Four Defense Ministry officers arrested for financial fraud
Baku/14.02.22/Turan: On Sunday, the pro-government media reported the arrest of four high-ranking officers of the Defense Ministry led by the head of the financial department of the military department, Rafael Khalilov.
Also, the arrest of Fazail Aliyev, head of the financial department of the military unit, Bayram Bayramov and officer of the financial department Vusal Alizade was reported.
According to the same sources, as a whole the officers are accused of embezzling more than 10 million manats (€5 million). Proceedings on Article 179.4 of the Criminal Code (Embezzlement and embezzlement on a particularly large scale) were initiated against them.
It was also reported that the State Security Service carried out an operation of their detention.
Despite such a high-profile case, neither the State Security Service nor the Ministry of Defense made an official announcement. Attempts to get a comment or even a confirmation from these agencies gave no results.
These agencies are very sensitive to critical and negative materials in the press, but this time they kept silent.-02D-
