France Should Prohibit Entry of Separatists from Karabakh
Baku / 17.01.18 / Turan: Prospects for the development of Azerbaijani-French relations were discussed yesterday in Paris at a meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the two countries, Elmar Mammadyarov and Jean-Yves Le Drian.
The sides expressed satisfaction with the development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and France, noting the importance of high-level visits in the expansion of political relations, the press service of the Foreign Ministry reported.
The ministers also discussed the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Mammadyarov informed his colleague about the situation in the negotiation process for the settlement of the conflict.
Touching upon the economic subjects, the sides stressed the importance of intensifying joint efforts aimed at increasing the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and France. Particular attention was paid to the prospects for the development of cooperation in the field of ICT, taking into account France's leadership in this field.
Mammadyarov also met with Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of this country Jean-Baptiste Lemoine.
Touching upon the Karabakh settlement, Mammadyarov noted that on January 18, 2018 he will meet with the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group and Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian in the Polish city of Krakow.
As Mammadyarov stressed, France as a co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group has to prevent the creation in several cities of France of relations with the separatist regime illegally created by Armenia in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan, and prohibit the entry into France of persons who call themselves representatives of this regime.
At the end of the meeting, the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan (ANAS) and the French University of Montpellier signed a framework agreement on cooperation, thesis and financing. The agreement was signed by the President of ANAS, Academician Akif Alizadeh and the Vice President of the University of Montpellier for international relations François Henne. -06D--

President Biden and other key administration officials have made it clear that war-torn Ukraine will 'eventually' join the 32-member bloc. In a speech at Kyiv Polytechnic Institute this week, Secretary Antony Blinken declared that the U.S. was bringing Ukraine closer to — and then into — NATO. "We’ll make sure that Ukraine’s bridge to NATO is strong and well-lit," he said.
