General Medical Administration: Farhad Muradov�s Health Good
Baku / 04.24.19 / Turan: Member of the Muslim Unity Movement Farhad Muradov, convicted in the Nardaran case-2, is dying. Turan was told so by the human rights activist Samira Agayeva. According to her, Muradov is sick with hepatitis C and lost consciousness in correctional institution No. 15 of the Prison Service yesterday. In addition, according to Agayeva, the spouse who was concerned about his condition was not allowed to see the prisoner.
Farhad Muradov was arrested in 2015 with a group of believers. On December 28, 2017, the Baku Court of Grave Crimes sentenced him to 12.5 years in prison on charges of terrorism, illegal possession of weapons, an attempt to change the constitutional order, etc.
The Prison Service told Turan that the information that the spouse was not allowed to Muradov is not true and the right of every prisoner to meetings and telephone conversations is ensured in the manner and amount stipulated by law. In addition, the prisoner"s health issues are under constant review.
Iftikhar Gurbanov, deputy head of the Main Medical Department of the Ministry of Justice, also told Turan that reports of the critical condition of Farhad Muradov"s health are not true. "He had a kidney attack yesterday. The doctors examined him, necessary medical assistance was provided, and at the moment he is completely healthy," Gurbanov said.
It should be noted that local human rights activists recognized 12 people arrested in the Nardaran-2 case as political prisoners. All of them were sentenced to long sentences ranging from 12.3 to 15 years in prison. -21B--
