Georgian PM Announces Resignation

Baku / 09/02/19 / Turan: Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze announced his resignation today, having served as head of government for only one year.

According to Georgian media, the incumbent Interior Minister Georgy Gakharia will replace Bakhtadze as Prime Minister. The new Minister of the Interior will be former Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili.

After the victory of the Georgian Dream party in the parliamentary elections in 2012, the ruling team replaced three Prime Ministers in seven years. At first, the party leader, billionaire Bidzina Ivanishvili, held this position. Exactly one year later, in 2013, he resigned, appointing Irakli Garibashvili as successor. -02D-
