Germany calls for negotiations between Baku and Yerevan mediated by head of European Council Charles Michel
Baku/02.11.23/Turan: On November 3 - 4, German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock will visit Yerevan and Baku, the German Embassy in Azerbaijan informed Turan.
This is the first visit of the Foreign Minister to Armenia and Azerbaijan, and the second to the South Caucasus after the visit to Georgia in the spring of 2023.
In Baku, Berbok will hold talks with her counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov, after which a joint press conference will be held at the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
"Germany strives for lasting peace, political and economic diversification of the region and its close relations with the European Union. To this to happen, it is very important to create trust and reconciliation in the region. The goal is a comprehensive peaceful settlement through negotiations, so that Azerbaijanis and Armenians can live in peace and security within their national borders. To this end, we support the rapid resumption of trilateral negotiations mediated by the President of the Council of the European Union Charles Michel and support any relations that contribute to peace and stability for the peoples of the South Caucasus," the Embassy said in a statement. --016-

Activist Nijat Ibrahim, who was detained in Baku pre-trial detention center-1, inflicted numerous wounds on himself on November 20 in protest against unjustified criminal prosecution, his wife Parvin Ibrahim told Turan. According to her, on November 21, her husband called her and informed her that the day before he had inflicted incised wounds on himself with a piece of mirror. In particular, he cut his throat and ears.
