Ghazanchi church under restoration - Azerbaijan Foreign Ministry
Baku/04.05.21/Turan: As part of large-scale construction work in Shusha, mosques, historical monuments, mausoleums, house-museums, as well as the Ghazanchi church are being restored. Reconstruction is carried out in accordance with the original architectural style of this building and with the aim of restoring the historical appearance of Shushi, the commentary of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry in connection with the accusations of the Armenian side about the destruction of the dome of the said church.
“We remind the Armenian Foreign Ministry that, unlike Armenia, which for decades has illegally occupied the territory of a neighboring state, every monument, building and stone is valuable for Azerbaijan, and their restoration and protection is carried out at the state level.
As for Armenia, the atrocities committed on the territory of Azerbaijan are obvious. Armenia systematically and deliberately destroyed or changed the nature of the cultural and historical heritage on these lands, destroying manuscripts, museum exhibits, stealing and selling plundered items of Azerbaijan's historical and cultural heritage on the black markets,” the commentary says.
The country, which has committed all these atrocities and violations of international obligations, has no moral or legal basis for commenting on the restoration work carried out by Azerbaijan on its territory, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said. -02D-
