Harlem Shake protest outside London embassy to highlight plight of political prisoners in Azerbaijan

Protesters will gather outside the Azerbaijani embassy in London to make a Harlem Shake video on Thursday, 13 June 2013, calling for the release of political prisoners in Azerbaijan.

The protest is a joint initiative of the Baku-based Art for Democracy campaign, ARTICLE 19, and Index on Censorship.

Azerbaijani youth activist Ilkin Rustemzade was arrested on 17 May 2013 on politically motivated charges of hooliganism in connection with a Harlem Shake video filmed in Baku.

Protesters will call for the immediate and unconditional release of Rustemzade and the more than 80 other political prisoners in Azerbaijan, and for increased international pressure on the Azerbaijani government to fulfil its international human rights obligations.
