High-ranking official of Nakhchivan customs has been arrested
Baku/25.11.22 /Turan: Head of the department of regulation of customs tariffs and payments of the State Customs Committee (SCC) of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Mansur Askerov, was arrested for large-scale embezzlement.
On November 24, the Sabail district court of Baku decided to detain him for 4 months during the period of investigation.
Note that Askerov was charged under Article 179.4 (squander and embezzlement on a particularly large scale) of the Criminal Code.
As it is known from informed sources, during the investigation in the State Security Service in the Nakhchivan State Customs system, embezzlement on a particularly large scale was revealed. Askerov is charged with embezzlement of state funds by prior agreement with a group of individuals in the amount of 132 million manats.
During the investigation, it was found that officials of the Nakhchivan State Customs established a system parallel to the general electronic system where state customs duties are processed. The second, unofficial system recorded illegal fees for goods imported without registration.
Article 179.4 means that many high-ranking officials of Nakhchivan Customs are involved in this scam. No names of these individuals have yet been made public. The probability remains that high-ranking officials from other state structures of Nakhchivan are also involved in this crime. -06D-
