Human Rights House Network: Baku Could Not Silence Whole Mission of PACE
The network of international human rights organizations Human Rights House Network issued a statement in connection with the elections in Azerbaijan. The statement said that the Azerbaijani authorities have not been able to silence the international mission of the PACE.
The representative of the Network Florian Irminger said that nothing unexpected happened against the background of political repression, restrictions on the registration of candidates, human rights violations and total falsification.
Speaking about the election assessment mission of PACE, he noted that the views of members of the mission were divided and it will manifest itself in future discussions in the PACE parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan.
Three members of the PACE mission issued a separate statement calling the elections "not free, undemocratic and unfair."
They also stressed that in the context of violations of freedom of speech, assembly and expression it is impossible to speak about fair elections.
This indicates a significant divergence of opinion within the ranks of the mission, where 7 members opposed the final evaluation of the mission.
All this will create problems during the establishment of the mandate of the Azerbaijani delegation to PACE, said Human Rights House Network. -03D-
